There is a grey area. I have talked to two F&W offices and they both said no geese can be shot over snow sounds other than snow geese and Ross. You cannot also use Canada goose decoys but I have seen people use canada socks with white socks on the heads to pretend they're blue geese.

I don't see how you think there is a "grey area" there.
You cannot shoot Canada in the spring .
if a person is modifying a Canada goose decoy to look like a blue then it is a blue not a Canada
it wouldn't matter if Canadas came into the spread you still cannot shoot them - pretty simple.

This all seems so complicated. When I was young my dad did not have many snow decoys. He added a whole bunch of white diapers.
One of the best field shoots I have ever been on for mallards was with a guy who brought out a whole bunch of folded tar paper.
Now you got me wondering what those spreads might have looked like from a drone view.

I know you can't hunt Canada geese in the spring, I can read the regulations. I am talking about the fall when Specks and Canada's fly over. It is a grey area because technically you are hunting for snow geese, but since other geese flew into your spread while using an e caller, that is where the trouble begins since only mouth calls can be used for other geese and ducks.

There is still no issue in the fall .
If you are using an elctronic call you cannot shoot Canadas period
You are trying to read more into it than what it is .
If you want to use an electronic call you will not be able to shoot Canadas - period . No matter the season

im not saying you are wrong because i dont have the regs out in front of me at the moment to be sure. from what i understand you can kill canadas over an electronic call as long as you are only using snow specific sounds and are using snow specific decoys. i have heard this from multiple people whos jobs depend on following the law so i am quite sure of it. if i can dig up my copy of the regs i will look it up to be sure.

it says inn the regulations illegal too use electronic calls unless mimicking snow goose calls so you can use them, I wouldn't bother however because if I am calling Canadas I will use Canada goose calls.

Drone flyer here - don't use it for any hunting purposes. Don't use it to spy through people's windows.
Hunter here - don't use trail cams, GPS or electronics. I have a compass. I have a gun and a knife.
I hunt the same way I started way back then, with a gun, binocs and the basic tools that actually make me feel that I am legitimattely putting my skills against that of my quarry. When I suceed to harvest my game, it elevates my inner self in knowing that I've worked, stalked and deserve the gift that I've earned. And, I am thankful for the animal's life that I've taken.
It is truly sad that some simply find ways to abuse and misuse every piece of new technology. As far as I'm concerned, anyone that would ask about the legality of checking a goose spread with a drone is nothing more than a border line poacher.

i fully agree with using canada calls. but there is times where lessers, ducks and specks will come in to a snow goose spread. i asked around and the regs were just changed a season or 2 ago. this is the snippet from the regs i found.
it is unlawful to
recorded wildlife calls or sounds, or an electronically operated calling device except; 1) when hunting migratory game birds with the use of calls or sounds that mimic snow geese, or 2) using electronic calls to hunt crows, magpies, coyote, red fox and wolf (using sounds that mimic these animals, rabbits, hares, or rodents).

We bring ducks and specs into our spreads all the time because we don't set out Canadas only but use specs and snows in conjunction with them and use the appropriate calls when needed
Works well ......
