Default Naming a boat. When to name it and What do you call yours?

A couple of members in my other thread mentioned I should name my new boat.

I had already thought about this but haven't come up with anything yet.

Her maiden voyage will be in a couple of weeks,

Should she be named before I first launch her?

What are some of the names people have named their boats?

Did you just name her Maiden? Maybe wait till your first adventure with her is done before naming her.

Our first boat was a small 14 footer. We caller her tippy but leaky would have worked as well!

Names can be right out of the but most have some meaning.

My boat is called Double Time , some others I know of are "Overtime","Time off", "My Time" , ""River Dancer", "Barbie C", " Ms.Costa Lotta"
" Dirty Oar", " Jigger", " Money Pit", "Big Blue", "Mac Attack", Mad trapper", Walleye Wizard","River Witch","Jeanie".

Our first was Putt Putt, a 17' Silverline

Our second was Putt Putt II, an 180 Hewescraft Searunner

The name came from my wife, who used to make fun of the 1980's 4hp Mercury kicker I had for the Silverline. She always thought the little kicker just putted along catching fish!! The name stuck and it will be on our next boat as well.

Cheers

SS

Our 12' tinner was named SS Leaks-A-Little, but as the years went by it's name became SS Leaks-A-Little-More

Our 17' Bayliner is still unnamed.

Wink Shadow Dancer

Mightiest 14' fishin' vessel in Northeast Alberta

Name her before you launch her...difference between good and bad karma.

My Jon boat is the "Scurvy dog"

As a teenager 4 of us had a 20' wooden boat pushed by a 1964 Merc we called the "Sea slug" because it was slow and ugly
