Default name the fly ?

Does anyone know the name of this fly? I found it quite effective last week and am looking for the recipe to tie it.

First, that is actually a jig, but could easily be tied as a fly. It looks like someone's imaginative creation and likely has no name. The recipe for a fly (if I was tying it);
Hook: TMC 5262 #6-12
Bead: Black Tungsten or Brass in appropriate size
Thread: Black UTC 70
Tail: Red Marabou
Abdomen: Peacock herl wrapped no more than 1/2 way up the hook. Mid Hackle: Golden Brown Marabou.
Thorax: Black UV Polar Chenille (small) or similar.

Pinch the barb on the hook and slide the bead on with the small hole forward (towards the eye of the hook). Lay down a thread wrap over the hook shank from bead to a point just above the barb. Measure a bunch of red marabou the length of the hoo and tie in above the barb. Now tie in 2 peacock herls at the same point and wrap forward to 1/2 way point on the hook shank and tie off. Tie in a small golden brown marabou plume by the butt and make one or at most, 2 wraps around the hook shank and tie off. Now tie in small Polar chenille and wrap forward to just behind the bead, tie off and whip finish.

Question Mystery Fly

Although it has a jig appearance if you look close I think its a bead not a jig head just the style of hook gives it that appearance.... wi will have to hear from the OP to find out...

Default Mystery fly

I'm definitely with Professori on the recipe except for the thorax I think its Peacock SLF dubbing or something similar, and yes a jig hook for sure.

That almost looks like a balanced leech, without the balanced part. I have tied numerous similar looking leech patterns but I like to extend the beadhead out beyond the eye by tying a sequin pin with a bead on it before anything else. That way you can test if the leech will hang level below your indicator or not.
My 2 cents anyway....

It's actually tied on a #10 'Jig Hook', from Phil Rowley & Brian Chan's on-line fly shop.

I was recently fishing solo on a BC Lake, and had the opportunity to do lots of 'side-by-side' tests of flies, slow trolling 2 lines. This fly was suorisingly effective, and I'd like to tie more.

Thanks professori, I'll follow your advice !
