Default Snow in Grande Cache area

Can anyone comment on how much snow remains in the mountains in the Grande Cache area?

Is it confined to above tree line?

Any idea on depth?

Thanks

Yup. Looking out my back window at patchy spots on Stern and lightning ridge is covered. The South facing slope on Grande seems to be clear , although the last Km section to the tower always seems to hold snow. If you have FB check out the "Pass Port to the Peaks" , they always have good up to date info of the area.

As far as the surrounding area everything is starting to green up . I'll be mowing my lawn today.

Thanks for the info.

I have the guidebook, and was looking at ascending Lightning Ridge. By when is it usually snow-free?

I'd say mid to late June , pack bear spray I've seen some of biggest grizzlies up there.

Can anyone comment on how much snow remains in the Grande Cache area (Lightning Ridge, Hamel)?

There has been no recent activity on the Passport to the Peaks Facebook page, so I have no idea.

Can’t help you out specifically on GC area, but the south faces of all the peaks around Jasper have been baking in the hot sun for the last two weeks. Rivers are flowing high and dirty.
I would bet that Hamel would be mainly snow free other than the North face. Good luck!

I just hiked Ambler Mountain last weekend and there was still pockets of snow of the north side (on the trail). Was still able to summit without any issues. The alpine was clear of snow in the open areas.

Most snow gone on these peaks. If I were hiking a Jasper peak this weekend, I would hike Old Man (Roche Bonhomme).
