Ponoka is your closest range, but their rifle range set up is pretty convoluted, supposed to be one around Red Deer too.
Take a look at the range listing sticky in the Guns and Ammo section for more listings.

Rocky has a decent one. Always lots of open shooting tables.

You could check with Red Deer Fish and Game Assoc. I haven't been to their range in years but used to go there all the time. As far as I know the club still operates its range-at least I haven't heard otherwise.

There is a range north of Red Deer thats nice and handy if you just want to go out and do some shooting. Take the C and E trail north of HWY 11A for about 4 KMS. On the left (west) side of the road there will be a sign "Emil of Many Guns". Should be a sign pointing you to the gate. Not fancy but really handy. Donation box by the gate.

There are nice ranges in Swan Hills, Fox Creek, Whitecourt, Valleyview and Slave Lake.

Well...you did say central.

The places you're mentioning are lucky to make it into the southern third of the Province.

We 'central Albertans' tend to notice stuff like that. :-)

Oh - and please forward this to the weather reporters at Albertas favorite TV stations. They also seem to think that the Province ends at Highway 16!

The RDFGA one near Pine Lake is always good. Also the one slipbobber has mentioned, and I believe there is also one near Penhold/Innisfail?
