If someone wants company and someone to split some expenses with, I'd sure be willing to tag along

Going to head out this weekend! Miles to be spent in the truck. Central Alberta is pretty big is there a specific area the snow geese are being spotted. How about anyone from Saskatchewan big numbers over there?

Great to hear. Saw about 150 near Irma on Wednesday.
By central, do you mean by Stettler or further east?

The further east you go, the more you will find. Once you get to the middle of Manitoba they will be west. But yes, the most eastern part of central Alberta is best for here, and pretty much all of Sask is better than that. Good luck.

My son and I pounded the snows in Macklin Friday/Saturday. Too many to count, definitely in the hundreds of thousands, felt like millions lol, they just kept pouring in over us. Once the rain hit, we packed up for home. Probably a mistake, but we were tired haha. I felt the hunt was complete when we each scored a double. No slaughter pics sorry

Ha, enough for my freezer, but not as many on the ground as chances permitted. My success was having my boy bag a few on each set. And laughing at my pup trying to figure out how to mouth and retrieve these strange white birds lol.
I have a video of the "evening before" scout id like to post, but i dont know how to edit and post, can someone PM me "how to" please?..
My sons first goose.

I drove from Camrose to Saskatoon today and saw thousands and thousands of snows, with the big concentrations around the Battlefords where there were tens of thousands in one area along the highway.

South of chauvin 4 miles there is a field loaded with them. I'd hunt it but back to work.

First off I admit I have not had any luck figuring out these white geese. In the fall we ussually do alright on the Canada's and Specks. So the spring hunt has always peaked my interest , but once again I'm quite busy at work this time of year, this early spring has farmers chomping the bit 3 weeks before norm.
Well scouting is not a problem when the buggers are landing across the road from where you live, getting them to co operate for a shoot well that's another story.

So even though I had a job booked for last Sunday my nephew and I decided to give these guys a go, at 4:15 AM we were out setting up our decoys.
Now I only have 2 dozen FA snows, and one dozen flambeau magnum snows, 2 dozen silo socks , and then we thru out some white rags aswell.
We made a small willow blind right in the edge if the slough where they were landing the night before and settled in.
Right around 6:30 the first flock come in from the North low over the trees on the fence line ( we had a perfect South wind at 25 k) then promptly flared. Something with our setup was wrong , so flock after flock came in then flared at about 70 yrds, flew over us high then went to the next quater to south .
Well we decided to get out of the blind and head for the fence line and trees as most were coming over the trees at 40-50 yrds.
We managed to ambush 5 this way between us , not ideal but at least we were not skunked. And my ol Retreiver Ruger needed the exercise as a winter of moose trimmings and bones had him porking up.
It was a gorgeous morning just to be out , there are much worse ways then to spend a morning with a good buddy and your mutt.

Good on you I know the birds are further up North now! Went out this weekend and only saw 12 total and took 4 of them out. Hope the rest of you out hunting continue to have luck this spring.
