Thanks Pesky,
There are a pile of threads in the states on this incident. It was a huge issue. This videos of these "hunts" have been cleaned off the net by those involved. Indiana Wildlife is the last source for the video clips.
The correlation to Alberta lies with the passing of Bill 11. Your link shows the information. This bill was introduced while the trial was before the courts.

Now comes news that one of Bellar's pals, a state legislator from Macy, Republican William Friend has introduced a bill in the General Assembly that would remove operations like Bellar's from Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources regulation and place them under agricultural regulation, thus classifying white tail deer as agricultural animals just like pigs and cows.

The game farming community learned a lesson from this incident. They now know to get wildlife listed as "Livestock" before legislating hunt farms. Such as just happened here in Alberta.
With the new Diversified Livestock Act, Alberta is now positioned one big step closer to expanding game farms and "Hunt" farms. Elk, deer, moose, and more species to be listed at a later date can now be Privately Owned.
Enjoy the Wildlife while hunting. Think about what Wildlife is, and how important it is to you.
