It is only valid during archery only seasons, in the wmu's that have an archery season for moose that is not indicated to need a special draw! Regulations explain it all!

There is no such thing as a general archery bull moose tag

You probably mean he bought a "general Moose licence" and has been hunting moose in a WMU that allows it to be used in the archery season.

You can only hunt moose with a rifle in a WMU where you have the appropriate special licence draw.

I have no clue on the rules...don't pay much attention.

buddy seemed to think he could shoot a bull moose, with an arrow, during the rifle and archery season (rifle is a draw tag) cause he has a general tag for archery season.

More or less saying that he can shoot a moose anytime during an open archery season with a general moose tag for archery season

If you have a general moose tag....and there is an open general archery season for moose....you can hunt them with archery tackle. WHEN RIFLE DRAW OPENS you CAN NO LONGER USE archery tackle as the SEASON FOR ARCHERY IS NOW CLOSED.

For example: WMU 521....archery only Antlerled moose A25-S23....after that you are SOL unless you hold a draw tag for that zone...in which case you would have been ineligible to purchase a general tag in the first place.

BUT for example in 507 the zone is draw for both Archery and General seasons....so you cannot hunt moose there with a general tag.

What zone is he wishing to hunt in?

Friends don't let friends poach......should let him know that 356 closed on September 23rd to general archery hunting....now you MUST have a draw to hunt that zone with either archery tackle or rifle.

Arn I am pretty sure you are against poachers....so personally I would clue your buddy in...or call him in

I don't make the rules I just follow them....

you dont know what the regs are in general? Or you dont know them regarding draws and moose hunting? I'm not sure what to say.... Are you saying you dont know how to hunt, legally? What are you saying Arn? I think you should clarify, cause thats how i take what you said.

i dont archery hunt and dont normally hunt with people who do..(most of my hunting partners are rifle shooters)

I pay little attention to archery rules, but the basics seemed to be out on this one, so I questioned it.

If I do happen to se a bow hunter I dont question it, I don't question most hunters on anything, as I assume people are responsible for themselves as I am. However when things seem a bit odd, I will question it as I did with this thread. Thought it better to throw it out there for guys who may have experience with bow hunting regs as I have minimal experience with them.

I spoke with him, and he completely misunderstood the regs...

I guess its similar to the waterfowl and "loaded with a single bullet" thingy for some, only this would have far greater consequences.

I've done my part... if he still goes out, he's looking for his own trouble.
