Default I call this coyote 'last chance'

Snared this coyote the other day. Thought he had mange at first but no red belly so I skinned and fleshed him and found what looks like a bullet hole. He had a rough last couple days.

Possibly shot while in the snare?

Or do you think it was before he got caught in the snare?

Down in the open country you do see this regularly, daily? Almost. Got to hate it when every Tom, Dick and Jerk is hucking lead at 500-600 yards plus, just because he can. Some guys can shoot at distances like that but most can't, especially not running shots, but people try anyways because they like shooting guns. I suspect many don't have any regard for the animal?

No law against unethical shots.

Unfortunately some have the "it's only a coyote" attitude. They still deserve a swift death whenever possible.
