Default 375 Winchester

Anyone have any field experience with this caliber? How did it perform on big game? Do you prefer cast or jacketed bullets? I just traded for an early model Winchester BB top eject in really good shape. I got lots of brass from Starline, and just ordered molds from Titan so reloading wont be a problem. The 255 Barnes original is still available too. Just wondering how this caliber works on big game like moose/elk

A buddy of mine had one, only rifle he owned and he took all big game with it, 150 yards or less, makes big holes. Not sure what he was using I just called them thumb bullets.

Keep shots close, the caliber is very similar to the old 38/55 Winchester.

Default .375 Big Bore

Ain't no 38-55 easily a 200 yard gun moose ,elk, deer + bear.RE#7 is the powder for reloading jacketed bullets.38-55 dies can be used to reload it as well.Hornady's 220gr is no longer made as for factory ammo, if you can find it is limited to Win 200grFN instead of the superior 250gr they once made.

I had a Winchester 'Big Bore' chambered for that, but it didn't shoot well with factory loads and I sold it - a gallon can was in very little danger at 100 yards. Unfortunately, I never tried loading for it as I might have improved it.

It's considerably more powerful than .38-55 factory loads, which are necessarily 'tamed down' in consideration of so many very old and decrepit rifles chambered for it. I have no doubt that in a modern action, the .38-55 could be loaded up to near .375 equivalence.

Default 100 yards

We were getting 2-2.25" groups at 100 yards with 38gr of RE#7 and a Hornady 220gr FN ? This is MAX so don't load it up and try without working your load up first.
