Default Where to stay in Medicine Hat ?

So my flame and I, for the first time in a long time are going to be together tomorrow night and we are staying in Medicine Hat. I want to book a room but not sure where? Figured I’d ask my friends here.

We want to check in early tomorow afternoon but both have to be sadly be gone early Sunday morning. What hotels do you recommend? Of course price is important as I haven’t seen her in a long time and we will not be using a lot of in-house amenities.

I am thinking of a room with a jacuzzi though?

Who has a recommendation?

Medicine Hat Lodge, Hamptons, Best Western, Lots to choose from. The Lodge seems to be a favorite, plus has a casino.

Guess that depends how old you are but a lot of places I remember being clean up scale hotels from when I was a kid are now run down and you couldn’t pay me to stay there. Chances are the swimming pool isn’t exactly the same as you remember....

And they haven't cleaned it since

It just needs to be updated the tile flooring is starting to sink in places and there's a lot of standing water which is really gross.....which gets squeegeed pack into the pool.

Medicine Hat Lodge didn’t have any jacuzzi suites available when I called yesterday. Not sure who else might. I think Medicine Hat Lodge said their best price for a regular room with king size bed was $126

Ask lots of questions before you book. Is the continental breakfast still offered, most aren't, are any of the facilities actually still open, most gyms and pools are closed due to Covid, what are their cleaning protocols for Jacuzzi, Jet tubs, many have shut down any jetted tubs, what are the rules for check in, check out, cleaning etc. Covid has turned staying in a motel and finding places to eat or drink into something out of a science fiction movie but it varies greatly by both individual hotel and community you are staying in. Best of luck.

Was hoping for a jacuzzi suite but so far striking out on the places I’ve called as they are booked. Wish it would allow you to specify that on Expedia etc.

I would avoid the Quality Inn at all costs.
Used to stay there when visiting Medicine Hat but after the last stay in early June they are dead to me.
The rooms and hallways were filthy and they had to relocate us to a "cleaninish" room after we complained.

I would look somewhere other than the lodge, unless the Casino and water slides are a big draw for you. It’s dated, hasn’t changed in 30 years when we used to stay there as kids and is in need of a major facelift. The continental breakfast has gone down hill with powdered eggs and watered down orange juice.

There is a brand new Hampton Inn on the west side out by Redcliff, close to Boston Pizza and the Keg. It looks really nice.

I’ve stayed at that Hampton, it’s very close to Costco, Princess Auto and the Keg. They don’t have jacuzzi suites though. We ended up with just a regular room. Was fine.

We stayed at the Days Inn a few times and it was nice.

Holiday Inn Express looks good too.

As a guy that travels a lot for a living and do stop there besides when doing calls there I tend to stay at the Days Inn a lot. The odd time at Comfort Suites too. When you book take your time and go thru and pick the type of room you want. Many dont realize a lot of these hotels have from the basic queen rooms as well as the honeymoon suites. It is all what you book and pay for. There are deals to be had if you do some homework.
