Default Trapline Sale New Rules

Has anyone heard or know of the new Rules in place to sell a trapline?
They now want the buyer to have 3 to 5 years trapping experience in order to hold a RFMA, Just brought in by the Biologists. Then they decide if that person is eligible to hold a Registered trapline or not.
Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this.

Thanks,
Gabby.

Purchased one a couple months back and there were questions regarding experience,equipment,lifestyle...all pretty basic for the bio's to evaluate if a person was serious about trapping or just looking for a place to go

Guys, they have been looking for significant trapping experience before letting you purchase a RFMA for a number of years. The best way to insure smooth transfer is to be a junior partner on the line for a few years.

Its alot easier now then back in the 80s. Srd still has the file on my line from the previous owner, he had to list every trap, quad, argo, snowmobile, how long he expected to trap per season, married or not, years of experiance, how many of each animal he was expecting to catch....
I was suprised at the requirments.

Where are you getting that info from ? Is that what the biologist told you personally when you were trying to register on a new RFMA ???

There are three traplines that are being sold within our area, 1 being ours and this is coming right from the Biologist that this is the new Guideline.

Thanks,
Gabby

When the biologists took over the trapping portfolio they must have been schooled. I wish someone would share the text book with the rest of us!

You should ask the bio for a copy of these guidelines. It would be interesting to see.

I was told some very interesting rules and minimum requirements when I first tried to purchase the line. Including different rules if I was a relative of the line holder. I asked for the officer to please put it all down in writing for me. Still waiting for that email. Went above his head and the transfer went smooth. Turned out all to be untrue.

Bill9004,
Yes, I believe they are all spoken for.
We are going to ask to see the New Guidelines and if we do get a copy, we will post it on here as well.
