Default Feeding a Robin

What a surprise when we woke up this morning to see a slightly wore out Robin feeding out of our bird feeders...we have never had a Robin feeding here at this time of year...our little bird restaurant is always full and we get lots of Chickadees,Blue jays,Red grossbeaks, yellow gross beaks, squirrels, wood peckers...and now a Robin!...anybody else seeing Robins still? I am just south of Peace River Ab...funny to see the robins with this much snow on the ground...and after watching this Robin for a coupla hours it started to look a bit better with a full stomach...love watching these birds out my kitchen window...tons of photo opportunities right from my coffee drinking chair in the morning...i love living in the bush...quick update...now i have a magpie trying to get the food..ummm!

The only time we get robins close around the house is in the spring when there is a late snow. One year I went to the freezer and found a bag of saskatoons and thawed some out that the robins really went for.

However my wife (who was the one who had picked them the summer before) was not impressed. I asked her if she had plans to make me a saskatoon pie and she said "yes". "Well I just shared my pie with the robins then" was my reply.

Im in Calgary. Had 3-4 robins stripping a berry bush we have out back on Sunday. I thought it was odd that they were here during the snow...

I had seven eating crabapples off my tree.

I think they got drunk.

They just sat in the spruce tree all fluffled up for a couple of hours.

A lot of robins in the edmonton area never leave.

There are numerous people who have heated bird baths with accompanying food.
