I haven't read the comics as I don't want spoilers, even though I have the first 90 digitally. Friends who have read them say he's cat **** crazy, but I stop them at that. Pretty sure Daryl and Meryl aren't in the comics at all, so the show can and has deviated from the original formula.
I have not read the comics either, but talking dead show after had a screen shot of the Five largest differences from comic to show addition of Darryl was one of them. I also believe katana lady was the passive medical observer

One difference I was told about was that it was Dale not Hershel who had his leg chopped off to save him from a bite, ie he didn't die in the comics, or at least not that early. Also T-Dog is a bad ass in the comics, whereas he's certainly not that in the show, not yet anyway.

T-Dog isn't in the comics. Some people think T-Dog is supposed be based off tyrese from the comics but that's not true.

Interesting, another difference, thanks for that!

Theyll keep the show a bit separate from the comics to keep the ones that read it guessing. I own all of them and have a few predictions what could happen but the beauty is that it's not predictable to me. When Hershel got bit I knew Rick was going to cut his leg off, because it happens to Dale in the book. The governor and the heads is a little changed but sill on the same course of "crazy" things we will see. We'll see a lot of exciting story telling, and the beauty of the show, main characters will die as they do in the books. Keeps the reader/watcher emotionally on edge.

They need to be careful with that. Ask yourself how many characters on the show you actually care about... for me, it's pretty much just Rick and Daryl (luke warm about Glenn, Mattie, and Hershel). Pretty much everyone is interesting but your mileage will vary on how many you actually want to see 'win'. Start knocking off the few that the viewers give a crap about and you might end up knocking off the series.

It's a fantastic show but if Lori... Andrea.. Tdawg... or whomever else got bit next Sunday ... wouldn't bother me one bit. If Rick and Daryl kicked off, I'd be finding something different to do on Sunday night.

Obviously rick wouldn't be getting axed since he's the main character. But at the same time you can't just kill off characters no one cares about...that's too predictable and they not what they are going for. Just like Dale being killed off, he stays in the book for quite a while, well after the prison, I loved the guy and wish he was still around but that's the way it goes. Keeps you always thinking what could happen next
