No thanks
My cheap opinion FWIW(you did ask though lol) from a CDN standpoint at least there’s really no practical application for it being as we can’t have suppressors and it doesn’t do anything else better then the .338Fed or a host of other .338 cal cartridges unless ya just want to lob big chunks of lead at low speeds for reasons I can’t imagine?
I got caught up on the similar .300BLK bandwagon a few years ago, thinking it might be fun to hunt bush WTs with my RobArms XCR-L.....same idea as this 8.6 really, uses the same bolt face and mags as my 5.56....swap the barrels/Bob’s yer Uncle, got me an Alberta legal deer rifle in a modern sporting platform.....but again like the 8.6CM,the .300BLK‘s real potential is what it was designed for,an effective suppressed round interchangeable with the AR platforms.
As it turned out, that .300BLK kit never once left the gun room during deer season the entire 2 years that I owned it,every morn I reached for one of a 1/2 dozen other harder hitting/flatter shooting/more accurate deer/elk/moose rifles in my safe.....so I sold the .300BLK barrel,dies/brass etc that I had and still have a hard time some mornings picking out which rifle or bow or muzzleloader I want to use for the day, should probly thin the herd a bit more yet,lol
Anyhow...that’s my thoughts, the only thing this 8.6CM might really shine at and do better then the Fed is throwing heavy for cal suppressed rounds and unfortunately we don’t get to play with suppressors in Canuckistan.I just don’t see any point in having one up here,as a hunting round the .338Fed is a superior cartridge in every way until you get into the realm of suppressors.
