Default AMMO Swap Meet

What do you guys think of the idea, once Covid lets us, of having an AMMO and gun accessories swap meet, garage sale type thing. All things hunting related, just no guns, so we don't have to futz with permits. I know for myself I have a bunch of ammo for guns I no longer own, tons of spare gun cases, slings etc. The ammo is a pain to ship, so not worth trying to sell, and all the other small items aren't worth the work to mail them off.

I was thinking we could see if the new office of the Alberta Fish and Game has a room big enough and failing that look around for a free or next to free palce to set it up. Any thoughts on what the interest level might be.

I think that's a great idea.
But, if it was all non restricted guns, would you need any kind of permit?
Also, what about doing it outdoors, out of your trunk/on your tailgate? Maybe have it at a gunclub parking lot, and maybe that would make it easier to have guns?

I think its a great idea, I've got all sorts of extra bits and pieces I'd sell/trade. I like the informal setting concept, outdoors works, would probably allow it to happen much sooner.

This has been going on at many of the shoots I attend, there’s always a table or 6 set up with items for exchange.

Love the idea, there should be one held in each county. Out doors, park in the corner of a piece of accessible pasture or parkland and open the trunk. No overhead and no fees.

I’d definitely be interested. I mostly have bullets, and brass but some ammo too.

Great idea Dean.

We had good interest at our swap meet at the local range, and I was looking forward to one last year, but covid prevented that. We hope to start holding swap meets again after covid, but that could be years away.

Sounds like a good idea, it happens at every trap shoot that I attend, always guys selling and buying stuff, ammo, guns, and accessories off the tailgate of the truck.

Dean, pick a city park and have a fire, and the boys can bring a lawnchair, roast a smokie, and chew the fat at the same time.

Great idea btw.

Depending where everyone lives. To get the extra space and not have people complain doing it in public, could even pick a lake and park everyone on the ice. Lots of empty space on a lake right now.

Great idea, I would be there.
Need a sling for the 22
Iron sights for the 12gauge
And can never have enough ammo for my 30-06

Would love to look at some forged knives that members have made as well.

Great idea Dean, I'd be in for that. I have a good bit of stuff I could bring.

Maybe even a flask of good hootch to share with friends while they buy stuff from me. It's a tradition.

This is an awesome idea.
Maybe it could become an annual event (Rendezvous)
style. Maybe an addition to existing "gun shows" without actually being at the gun show. So North, central, south rendezvous type of idea with gun shows being held in the same general area but not attached so they can do their thing without it being a competition between the two but rather and extension of the two.
Love the outdoors idea creating a much more authentic, informal, atmosphere.

Or maybe my enthusiasm is getting the best of me and it should be kept simpler so no real planning and logistics required just a message board call out and word of mouth show up and enjoy.

Man am i getting bored again or what.

Seems like there is quite a bit of interest in this idea. Will have to keep it in the back of mind till Covid goes away and then look at setting up something informal. I like the idea of the outside/community garage sale/tailgate type idea, and it would also make a great meet and greet.

Awesome idea.......

Informal

Why not at some local gun ranges would give one the opportunity to show case
there range

A club show and tell if you will

That way not looking for any specific location fire up a genny and a pot or 2 of
coffee some camaraderie and laughs

Thoughts

Default Great Idea

I think it's a great idea Dean! My thoughts are a nice country hall might be best. I'd offer up my acreage, but that's not ideal if the weather turned crappy. Let me know if you need help with it.
