Question Ruger American ranch rifles

Anyone have any experience behind the ruger American ranch rifles https://www.cabelas.ca/product/97356/ruger ? It seems to have mixed reviews with issues with primers not striking on some types of ammo and feeding issues. Was hoping to find out if anyone had done aftermarket modifications or how has there rifle preformed good or bad. Have had my eye on them for a bit but haven’t picked one up.

I have one in 223 / takes AR mags. ^ yeah that’s the one

So far great ! No misfires. Load development was fast with a 69 gr Sierra.
Still a few Nosler 55s left too. Both accurate.

Broke its virginity on a coyote 320 yards out , slight incline.

Very happy

Thanks for the input wolf. I have been given some at mags and 223 dies and components from people who are out of the game and am hoping to get a rifle where I could use all the stuff I was given. My other option is a modified 700 to take ar mags but that will be a costly build compared to 800~$

Or just sell the things I was given and look for a different caliber rifle.

No prob bud.
Don’t think their that pricey though. There’s some used on gunnutz now and around

Think I paid 700 shipped.

But yeah. Like mine. 4 shot group at 100 with 69s and varget netted a .388” group.

I’ve been thinking of the same rifle in .223. Thanks for starting this thread and the input. I didn’t know about mis fire issues... I’ll do more reading.

Default Ruger

Have one in 5,56. No feed or primer issues so far. 160 rounds and other than some scope issues it’s a great little gun . shooting 50 gr vmax reloads nicely

I see there is a fair amount of aftermarket support with chassis stocks triggers and barrels looks like they are even compatible with some ar parts with the right chassis.

https://timneytriggers.com/replaceme...an-centerfire/

Wolf was bang on I run guns sells them for just a hair under 700$ shipped to the door.

That one isn’t the ar mag style but thanks for letting me know. Also learned Boyd’s makes some nice stocks for them.

Have a few rar Grendels now. Likely go down the mdt route with them. Mdt is a little behind on production, first chassis should come in February, then will see if the other two get done same.
