Cut plugs for lake trout

The other day I was at board walk tackle in Cold Lake and she was trying to sell me some cut plugs , that did not even come with hooks . She was saying all the pro fishermen are using them on Cold Lake. I kinda of chuckled in side as most of them like to jig and not troll and these are made for trolling .
For those that don’t know what they are , they are like a regular plug cut in half and you place a minnow inside and then close it and wraps it with an elastic band I believe do it does not open up Then you troll with it and it leaves its scent behind .
Anyways how many out there are using them for your go to lure for trolling .

I've used them and sometimes, because you can adjust the bonnet and curve on the trailing hook (by pulling the line through the bonnet) they have the right action (spin and wobble) to trigger strikes but they aren't revolutionary - they are simply another offering on those days when finding the right lure, speed and action helps get more bites.

Most of the time, particularly on cold lake, the right spoon, and apex or wobbler works great and there's no need to complicate your set up. For cold lake, I rarely use bait (or scent) for lakers ...... it's not needed IMO.

Used them a fair amount. Just like on the coast with a flasher (Moouching). Works like a hot damn.
