Thumbs up Current Federal Polling

New poll shows Poilievre Conservatives in dominating lead over Liberals

Ever since the Sept. 10 election of Pierre Poilievre as Conservative leader, there’s been a few scattered polls to show that voters are warmer-than-expected towards his vision of the party. But a comprehensive new survey by the Angus Reid Institute provides the best evidence yet that the Poilievre Conservatives are a uniquely strong contender against the Trudeau Liberals.

A summary of the most compelling findings is below …

IF AN ELECTION WAS HELD TOMORROW, THE CONSERVATIVES WOULD WIN

Among respondents, 37 per cent said they would vote Conservative in the next election, against just 30 per cent who would Liberal. Given that the Liberals won the last federal election with just 32.62 per cent of the vote, these results would be more than enough to put Poilievre in the prime minister’s office. Stephen Harper, notably, came to power in 2006 after an election in which he captured just 36.3 per cent of the vote. Even the majority government Harper won in 2011 required only 39.6 per cent of voters.

Most notably, Conservative support is rising in Ontario, the one province most likely to deliver them the seats needed to form government; nearly 40 per cent of Ontarians were in for the Tories.

When people start hurting financially they start paying attention and PP speaks intelligently to their concerns. Ontario is one of the most heavily indebted communities even by world standards. I read someplace that they are paying 3.38B per year just on interest on their debt, and of course Ford is cozy buddy with JT.

The question is - could the Conservatives win a majority?

And we can't discount the unholy alliance of the Liberals and NDP... Hopefully there's enough people who see the writing on the wall and can vote 'em out.

75% of PPC respondents intend to vote for the Polievre Tories. That pretty much decimates the PPC .maybe the best thing Max could do is endorse Polievre and move out of the way.

Ontario isn't the Issue, Toronto is the issue. If Toronto doesnt vote somewhat Conservative, the Conservatives will lose. Polivierre strong point, the one that is getting younger voters, Is actually his stance on housing lol Hopefully he stays true to his words, which I think he will

Things could be interesting as I am hearing a lot of people who normally don’t vote are planning to vote PP because they can’t take Trudeau and PP is making sense to them. There is a lot of angry Canadians across this country who want change and PP is running of a platform that seeks change

As for polls they also said the the vote for conservative leadership was going to be close lol

PP still needs a strong majority to prevent a NDP/Lib coalition as a desperate grasp to keep power

Strange not a peep about the polls on CBC? I hope Pierre defunds this propaganda outfit.
Mad Max should step aside let the grownups take over he just was miffed about losing the leadership vote time to drop out.

Unless PP has a major screw up or skeleton come out of his closet, he will slowly get more support as we wait for the Libs & Dips hold each others hands party to end.

I wonder how the dippers feel about their leader entering this coalition without their input? Will it help Jagmeet or hurt him in the next election?

If Max and Jagmeet both lose support, it could be a 2 way race. If turds stays in for the fight thinking he can um and ah his way past PP, then we just may see a conservative majority. Seems like the mood out there is that the Libs have had their time. Be an interesting couple years if Jagmeet don't pull the pin on Turds. .

There is another factor - migration.

https://globalnews.ca/news/9163822/a...ation-q2-2022/

So, if the people that are migrating here from the West Coast and Eastern Canada hold conservative views, then that is good for us provincially (UCP vs NDP). But that is also diluting the voting influence for the Federal Conservatives in the NDP/Liberal-dominated ridings where Conservative votes are desperately needed.

And vice versa. If we're being flooded with Liberals, then, provincially, we have a better chance of Notley getting in... We shall see...

Poilievre overtakes Trudeau as leader seen as best choice for prime minister: poll

Less than a month into the job, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has overtaken Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the candidate seen as the best choice to lead the country, a new poll suggests.

The Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News found 35 per cent of Canadians surveyed believe Poilievre is the best candidate for prime minister, while 31 per cent said the same of Trudeau, who trails the new Opposition leader in a majority of provinces — including Ontario.

The NDP and Liberals are close enough ideologies that they will always form a coalition out of best self interest. Conservatives need a clear majority vote to get and maintain power. We can hope but with the green vote being such a powerful force it's going to be a struggle. Bad economy is the thing that may provide a swing assuming the green issue doesn't just push more liberal voters to the "pro-environment, anti PL" NDP side.

This is the best thing that could happen. PPC definitely helped Trudeau stay in office last election

The liberals had it regardless of the PPC’s existence the Conservatives lost because they had a poor choice in leadership

The NDP cost the liberals more seats than the PPC cost the conservatives

Luckily the Conservatives will be going into the next election with a stronger leader that has put in the effort to gain support instead of trying to play conservative light dabbling towards liberal

What’s worrisome to me is after Trudeau’s what 7 years in power and all of his scandals and blunders 30% of the country is still choosing him as the best option to lead. How can anyone say he’s doing a good job…

Don’t trust polls too much especially when you consider what kind of people take the time to be polled. Majority of average Canadians are not contributing to polls

But there are the people out there that are so polarized to a party they will vote that way even if the devil himself is leading the party well eating babies

CBC should no.1 one of the to do list. All they are is the propaganda division of the Liberals. If they cannot make it on their own to bad so sad.

I had to laugh at the one question in the poll where people thought Trudeau was the most mature leader of the bunch. 😂

In general I don't trust polls. The 2016 and 2020 US elections are prime examples. Trump never had a chance and it was all Hillary, or the big Red Wave that never occurred. I've noticed going into this election cycle at least here in the US that the polls are always done in a geographical area and with a certain demographic to get the result they want. Generally that is a coastal city with some type of liberal university around it. Amazing how I've never been polled here in rural Montana, neither has anyone I know, but friends in Seattle have. Best of luck to you all up there!
