Perfect conditions to check out some mountain creeks right now. No snow up this one, the ice is beautiful. We hiked up a ways, then the girls skated back down.
They had to crawl through a couple rocky sections but not too far each time.
That's pretty cool. I was always in too much of a hurry getting to Whitehorse to stop off and enjoy some of the sights along the highway. I think that I'll make sure to stop and smell the roses on my next trip up that way.
Looks like a great day with the rink to yourselves. I was just mentioning to someone we should have downhill skating or half pipes with ice.

I really enjoy when people think outside the box and find amazing winter things to do that take advantage of conditions that may only exist for a few days or weeks.
Im not sure what I was expecting, but my middle daughter on the figure skates seemed to have an easier time of this than my youngest daughter on her hockey skates.
If I were allowed to make a recommendation, I would suggest knee/elbow pads and helmets next time. Nobody died on this trip, but i have a new understanding on how.......... NUTS my girls can get out in the wild.
