Default Scope and mount options for new rifle

I just acquired a new rifle, its a Tikka t3x lite in 6.5 Creedmoor and I though I would look for opinions on a scope and mounting options. The rifle will be used for hunting and I would like to keep the weight down.

My budget is under $1500 all in, however any quality suggestion for less is welcome.

I was thinking of a Swarovski z3 and Talley Scope rings.

Thanks,

Ray

The Z3 3-10X42 is an excellent choice, as are the Talley Lightweights.

I'd second the Z3 w/BRH, nice light scope, really good glass. I'm somewhat partial to Burris rings with the liners, Signature's? I bought XTR's for the TAC A1, but, wasn't worried about weight on it, as it is a range gun. It was just a simpler way to get some angle on it, to be able play a bit further out if I want too.

Some people swear by the opti locks but they are money. I had a set on a tikka that I traded a while back. I also use Talley rings on a couple other rifles and they work well.

Ohh for scopes, swaro is really good. They don’t skimp on glass in any of their scopes regardless of the line so the image quality of a z3 will be very good! Buying quality upfront is a good idea

Leupold also has good scopes and takes care of their customers. Warranty center or custom work is done right in Alberta with very quick turnaround times and exceptional customer service.

I have a z3 on my hunting rig. I wanted a higher end basic scope with a plex reticle. Have had it for 4 years has been great.

Nothing wrong with your choice. I love Swarovski glass. IMO it's the clearest out there.

Great setup it would be with your choices.

Is it the first thread ever, where a guy asks for an advice on his thought process and everyone agrees? This should convince the OP he is doing it right! Lol.

Thanks for the input everyone.

What are your thoughts on reticle?

My experience is limited to a duplex reticle on my current set-up and for hunting I like the simplicity of it, however I can see the benefit of the BRX or BRH when looking to reach out a little further.

I thought I would share the final setup. I got it all put together last June.
Tikka t3x with a z3 scope.

Always nice to see a follow up, looks great. I'm sure it's optically beautiful.

Which reticle did you go with?

Yes optically it is fantastic, however I do not have experience with a lot of scopes but a significant upgrade from the 20 year old VX1 I have on my other rifle.

Out of the box the set-up has been a great shooter with the first 5 shots making a group just less than an inch (a good indication that the nut behind the scope is the weakest link).

It has the BRH reticle.

Good deal. Pretty hard to beat that gun and scope for a hunting rig. Glad it worked out so well.

Put a way over priced tikka ball on that bolt knob and it's complete.

Wait for your birthday, they are way overpriced!!
