winter project
A worthwhile winter project for the range handyman or handyman shooter for himself.

That looks easy and something that I may just build. What is the standard height of the table top, and the seat height? From it looks as if the dimensions are about 5 ft long by 4 ft wide? this should help my grouping.

The height of the table would depend on an individual's height, sitting shooting position, and what they use as a shooting aid, whether it be sand bags, lead sled, or other aid. A standard kitchen table is usually between 30 & 32".

Pretty cool! I wish my local range had something like that instead of the concrete tables. Guess I just have to build one for myself!

Speaking from practical experience, seat area could be a little bigger. Built mine on skids, unfortunately can't find my pic.Found it. Sand bag made out a piece of inner tube, but I've replaced it with a lead slead.
Preserved wood next time as well.

Those benches will offend the lefties... mine is ambidextrous so my cousin and brother in law can use it too. Weirdos.

I wish my range had a elavated place to shoot prone. It would be cleaner than laying on the mud and snow covered ground.
Yeah I know the solution to my problem. I should build one.

I've often thought that a better shooting bench would be one where the shooter stood on his hind legs and the bench was tall enough to simulate a offhand shot. Of course only certain heights of persons ciuld benefit from this style.
I think it would be easier to adsorb recoil as compared to being seated.
Ive never any data to confirm or deny this?

I would avoid any design in which the seat was attached to the shooting bench.

I wouldn't recommend not letting anything that has 'hind' legs shoot.
