I work up North and unfortunately only get 1 week a month give or take to fish. I fish the Bow in the winter but wondering if anyone can tell me some other rivers or lakes open when Im home Nov 1st to bare the weather and head out Looking for a place 2 hours drive from Calgary tops. Any info would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies there guys, I actually realized after I sent the message that all I needed to do was some more homework which I did and found some sweet spots, plus some of the lakes are not frozen as of yet so I am even tempted to head out there for some fall still water.

I know the river is legally open in a number of portons, but is it mostly ice free all winter?

Yeah that section is clear with some shelves on the sides. I go down there a bunch in winter from the city.

I do believe there are some warm springs that feed the river to help keep it open water throughout the winter months also.
