Let me get this straight so it sold at auction for 160000 but now is for sale at $200000. Or it did not hit the reserved bid at the auction. And now the owner is trying to sell it for $200000 again.

Obviously he is not getting what he want for over priced traps and a cabin. Great. Market forces at work. Only as pricey as what someone will pay for.

There was no reserve, I called the auction place myself. I would say the seller didn't feel he was getting enough for the line and had a friend buy it back. Or nobody showed up and it was pulled off the block.

hey torkdiesel the nobody showing up makes no sense . board member bambecrombie said it sold for 160 000 .00 . and buying it back the seller still has to pay a percentage of the 160 000.00 to the auction house. i dont think either . something else i would think.

Maybe there was a company shill at the auction trying to drive the bids up and he ended up being the highest bidder. That would have nullified the sale. OR, the report about the trapline selling was incorrect.
DISCLAIMER......Pure speculation on my part and I'm not privy to any information about the auction.

One can only wonder if the SRD denied the guy that bought the line. Maybe he didn't have a trapper license. Hahaha.

This is hilarious - but I won't laugh. I'm concerned the poor guy isn't going to get a chance to ketch any squirrels.
I vote Tork should buy it!

This whole situation seems strange. Two AO members with 10 posts between them supplying the information then bringing the line for sale back to light. There is no way F&W would have denied the transfer that quickly, it takes them forever to get anything done.
I also can't see anybody backing out of a sale where they had to put $32,000 down at the auction itself.
I'll do a little digging

Just spoke to the guy at the auction house. Apparently the line did sell for 160K but the buyer decided at the end of the day that he couldn't come up with the deposit for a few weeks.
My guess is a buddy of the seller was instructed to bid until it reached a certain price and when he ended up winning the bidding he backed out at the end of the day when it was too late to auction it off again. Thus guaranteeing he could hang onto it and sell it at a later date.
The current owner of the line seemed nothing short of greasy when I was trying to make a deal on this line so I'm not surprised something like this happened.

Your jealousy of tork is something else, whats your issue with him? Starting to really think we have seen you before.

Not sure why you think I'm jealous of Tork. I think he should buy the line because it fits in completely with his philosophy on the allocation of trapping rights in Alberta which I am critical of and he also gave me the impression he has lots of money.
I don't deny this auction has provided a certain amount of vindication and am looking forward to the final outcome.

Wow you already got another thread shutdown now your starting here again! You are a tool sir and a rusty one at that! Think I will do what most others on the trapping forum have done and block you so we don't have to read your stupid posts!

Nope - I have made my point several times as have some of you and doubt anyone's mind has been changed. This is to be expected on an issue like this between those who have and those who don't.
As I said this auction has demonstrated several of my points and in my opinion is indefensible. I am looking forward to an explanation of what has occurred.
