Default Wasn't the end of season after all!

Potholes around Edmonton still have open water.

Looked at Muir today and still open areas. But nobody else around so went to usual lake (west of Stony Plain) and was rewarded with some very nice 'bows using an olive balanced leech in quite shallow water. There was some thin ice in a few areas but it disappeared when it "warmed" up.

Hopefully will still be open at the end of this week.

Drove to Lower Chain this morning to find it iced over to my dissatisfaction...

I got a nice bow in a pothole lake around Edmonton too this weekend. Good times!

Is the NSR worth trying this time of year? I know the Goldeyes have migrated. Any chance of luck for pike using streamers?

Went out yesterday for my last day on the Sheep and had one of the most productive days in a while. Huge sucker, bunch of whities, nice cuttie and lost one right at the net a huge 20"+ trout (couldn't confirm if it was a bull but most likely).

Getting pretty chilly at the end of the day so bring on hard water!

Where along the NSR are you referring to? Anyone tried throwing flies around the Terwillegar dog park area from the shore for pike?

Referring to "my spot". I had scoped out the river over two years and found a spot that people don't fish, but gives up the goods! Just wondering if it's worth fishing for pike in general on the NSR this time of year.

NSR should still be good. Fish are probably sluggish with the low pressure front though. Not sure what the clarity is like either.

Weather forecast looks good for the end of the week! I've still got the canoe on the truck ready for trout or the big boat ready for Wabamun, and fingers crossed!
