Compact Lefty Rifles
Hey all, any suggestions on a short LOP lefty rifle? Something that wont break the bank.

Ruger No. 1, light and completely ambidextrous, good balance, nice and short. great for hunting... unless you think you are going to be popping off shots as fast as you can cycle the bolt... then you need a repeater for all incoming targets.

Short LOP Lefty
Thanks all, they're all good suggestions. I'm actually looking to replace my wife's rh rifle (TC Dimension in 243)... she's also decided that she wants a "prettier" gun, and yes the Dimension is an acquired taste. I happen to like it a bunch cause it shoots barnes ttsx straight and rifles to me are like shopping carts, for the most part, unless you get a total dud you'll likely be able to get your groceries to the truck. In the process of becoming more familiar with shooting generally, she's developed a preference for shooting left. Who knew, everything about her is right side except her eye. I'd be willing to spend somewhere in the 750 to 1k range. Another that I'd seen in rh that she really liked was the Savage 11/111 Lady Hunter. Really nice, short and light, but alas no LH option. Browning x-bolt micro midas maybe? I see now that I probably should have posted this in the guns and ammo forum... next time.

Nice for sure Whelen - lots of practice to get the second shot off for her I think. Maybe not a bad thing!

winchester 1894
Maybe a lever gun like the Winchester 1894 in 30-30 is worth a look? Never used one, but safe bet it's tried and true.

I feel your pain! I shoot left and although I am not small I do like compact rifles.
I was sadly not impressed with the Micro Midas - too thick through the middle.
I really like my T3 lefty in 7-08. You could try to shorten LOP on one of those somehow.
Just bought a Ruger American compact 7-08 for my daughter. Too bad those don' t come in lefties! I am quite pleased with it. It is small and light. Many youth or compact models are quite heavy...For the small increase in price it is a giant step up from an Axis.
Best of luck.

I was giving this more thought and Madman1's suggestion of a lever gun is a good one. Try to check out a BLR lightweight. It would be easy to shorten a wood stock and you could add a Limbsaver pad at the same time.

BLR Lightweight
Thanks all for the suggestions, looks like there are a number of good options out there.

My wife loves her Browning Micro Midas 7MM-08 LH. She's taken deer, a moose and a red stag with it. The short throw on the bolt makes for low profile scope mounting. It's tough to compare many models like this. Call around or check inventories online. Sizing and handling can still be done with with right-handed rifles or unwanted calibres.
