Have to have respect for that man. If he could start to help other Bands do the same. It's a start! 🙂

WOW a native leader who isn't a politician looking for a handout.
Some good native ranchers in the Okanagan. i used to buy hay there. Met some good friends.

There are Natives who pull their weight, known a few, just some stuck in the reserve system, with a victim mentality.

Well I hate to say it Grizz but I will. It isn't a "Few" that are stuck in the reserve system....
I have spent enough time on a few reserves and some of the stuff I see is mind blowing. Not sure how to change the mentality?

I have hired many of the Okanagan native band members and working hard is not an issue for them. Once opportunities open up for them they make the most of it. Heck I had guys work 2 weeks for me and then asked what they made an hour. It wasn't about the money, they just wanted to work. Like most of us on AO they have a sense of pride that comes from doing a good job. Clarence has done a lot of good things and like any group you get leaders and followers. He has definitely been a true leader.

Nothing but respect for the OIB. They are definitely the standard for others to work towards.

Why is it that other reserves can't get it together like this?
I was in Valleyview today to visit a buddy and swing by Trapper Gords. The provincial building was full of natives. I didn't see one white person waiting for court or whatever they were doing. Why can't that be changed?
