Default Anchoring footholds?

Your thoughts on anchoring footholds to fence posts or trees. Good coyote area no trees or grass for my snares. Good or Bad?

fence post will risk entangling your catch in the wire. Why not use a proper stake?

Double stake if the ground is loose, or use drags. Coyote will mess up barbed wire fence or at the least mess up his pelt

I've lost too many Coyote to pull outs when I used to anchor my traps.
I eventually resorted to drags only.
Not sure how they'd work in open prairie country but up here in the bush I wouldn't use anything else.
