Smile Snare Support Wire

Just wondering what every one is using or prefers for supporting your snares . I thought the # 9 wire stuck in the ground for the open areas with in a red willow bluff or through grass areas where the coyotes are going through & thinking of getting the # 9 welded to a spike for easier installing to ground .Treed areas I thought of 12 or 14 gauge . Any suggestion's or recommendations . Thanks .

Number 9 galvanized wire is hard to weld - it'll break right by the weld. Just use the wire and anchor the snare. I also use hay wire (some call it mechanics wire) to hang snares off of branches

I can't believe how complicated snares are getting to be. Ty wires. Wammys. Support wires. I have been using a system for 15 years and it's been around ever since snaring was legal in Alberta. The number 9 support wire/ty wire can be reused as often as the land shark lock. Add a break away or kill spring. It has a built in swivel.verything gets reuseds expect the cable.http://. I believe it was invented by O'Gorman . One of thee best trapper of the time and still today.
