Default last years hunting camp

My partner and I were out cutting trails on the line yesterday, and came across an abandoned hunters camp, from last year. It had a tent, 2 sleeping bags, 3 knapsacks, kitchen utensils, steel, camp chairs, large cooler, shooters muffs, and other items such as a carrying case for a range finder. Looks like the guy ribboned a trail through the bush, and never came back. No sign of a gun or the range finder. Bears made a mess of the camp.
We were cussing about the mess, and then thought maybe the guy got lost or hurt and couldn't make it back, after all he left a lot of dollars worth of stuff behind. Kind of bothered both of us all day.

That does sound pretty strange, I don't know of anyone who would leave all that behind, sounds to me like they left in a hurry, seems like something definitly happened.

I didn't hear of anyone missing and not found, but I think I'll run it by the police to make them aware that something doesn't add up. It won't help the person out now, if something did go awry, but just let the authorities know, I guess. And, if I can get a tub trailer in there, I will clean up the mess after the police clear it.

Probably a criminals camp made of stolen goods. They would leave it behind without a second thought. The cops should cross reference items with gear stolen in the area.

If they are stolen goods, you might want to set a few Number 6 Newhouse traps around the trapline cabin. (kidding)
