Question Never done any trapping

I have never done any trapping, but it looks like fun. What I would like to know is it possible and legal to trap just a small area, say a couple of km of a creek? If I found a place that was not part of anyone's trap line can I trap it and do I have to register it somewhere? Like I said I know nothing about it so don't be too hard on me. I am just looking for something extra to do during the winter. thanks in advance.

Yup, you need a Trapper's licence for starters. I trap some crown land that is not part of a trapline. I talked with F&W to confirm that it's okay to trap there before setting any traps. It was no problem for that area but best to ask before.
