Pressurized plastic wheels for a product designed to operate in cold weather? What were they thinking?! Its this kind of penny-pinching executive decisions that spiral product quality down the toilet.

And now MTD Products Ltd. is going to have to take it on the chin (law suits, reputation, replacement parts, etc.). And I would guess that one or two heads will roll there too.

This will also not go well for CT either ... a quote from the article 👇
"The affected snowblowers include seven different models of the following brand names: MTD Yard Machines, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines and Yardworks. Most models were sold at Canadian Tires."

Haha that’s what I was thinking about my Ariens blower I bought last year!

John Deere 1028 here, its drive housing is nice and beefy cast iron rather than the skimpy aluminum ones that most seem to have

My 20" Honda single stage hasn't missed a beat in 10 years. First pull every time. I really should change the oil more than every three or four years. Oh well.

Same as mine only I went with a 24” model. I don’t mind having to take an extra pass or two. I have my truck plow to do most of the heavy lifting then clean up the sidewalks and around the wood pile with the blower.

I have a 2005 John Deere and I have not had a bit of trouble with it outside of getting into some wiring and I replaced the scheer pins following my turn at the wiring, it was my fault.

John Deer 824, about 35 years old, it was old and tired so I have retired it and bought a new craftsman last year, but " nothing runs like a deer "

John Deer Snow blowers are made by Briggs and Stratton---Discontinued a couple years ago. I have a 2018 model Briggs and it is identical to my neighbors J D. They are made in Australia. Wonder what they test them with???????

I saw a Briggs & Stratton at a Red Deer CT that was nearly identically equipped to my Deere, though it had one more feature. I think the extra feature was a power-actuator for the chute discharge height adjustment flap, mine has the power chute rotation but that exit height is manual. The Briggs also had the beefy cast iron ‘differential’. That sighting was disappointing after the fact though as I could have got the one at CT with CT money rather than the real $$ I had already spent on the Deere. None of the Calgary CT’s had that model, at least none I’d been to. Sears was still around at the time and I checked them out too, one of their Craftsman’s looked identical as well. At the time, Sears online offerings seemed a bit curious as they had so many snowblower models that it seemed excessive, they could have easily trimmed 1/3 of their offerings from the line-up.

Both the JD and my B&S have power chute and discharge angle. His JD came with a bolt on actual tool box. His JD cuts hard snow better than mine. Going to get rid of the super wide adjusters on the front sides and make some skinny ones. I ride up over everything instead of cutting through the harder stuff.
