If choosing between more kids and soldering gun, I would go for more kids. Lol.

Yes but no
I was all set to have it done, second appointment set with V clinic, etc. Had to see my regular GP about another matter and he talked me out of it. He mentioned the post V pain syndrome, and hardening of the arteries and such.

[QUOTE=buckbrush;4083549]A recent thread got me thinking....
The wife has been pestering me for a few years to get castrated.
I went for a consultation. Good day for my doctor to have a jr. dr as a tag along. The apprentice was doing the appointment and my doctor was just supervising
Big difference between castration and vasectomy.

I understand the difference but in my mind it will be a similar process.

Brings back a memory.
Many years ago I was castrating pigs with my Dad.
Then my Dad, who never joked about anything sex-related, told me with a straight face, that my uncle Sid was castrated, and that's why he didn't have any kids.

What do me and my christmas tree have in common?
Our balls are ornamental.
My no scalpel vasectomy was a breeze.
I do know people with horror stories though.
I guess it's up to each person to weigh the pros and cons.

I call BS on that one... I had it done 10 years ago and we still get busy. They say that you are supposed to rest for a few days after and I drove Edmonton to Peace River the morning after with a frozen bag of peas on my nuts. Had no problems, sex drive is still there.
I’d say that there were other problems that made the marriage end.

Snip, snip and a bag of frozen peas, stack of movies for a couple of days....
I experienced more discomfort pulling a tooth or a filling. You volunteer to walk in quietly, the quiet procedure and walk out quietly....Done
It is not like the rodeo of Dr. Pol having you in a pinch chute....haha.

If you’re done with babies do it. I told the doc even talking about the procedure was making me dizzy and he gave me a sedative for the day and it helped. I think it’s definitely worth it. About 8 of us from work have gone to the same doctor.
And no, it doesn’t affect your drive in anyway.

They were talking about their "needless/scalpel-less procedure"
Now in my mind I'm thinking burdizzo!!
I ask and she talks about cutting a cord...Wait...
I ask "If you don't use a scalpel, how do you get in there?"
She says "well, it's like a scalpel but not as sharp"
WHAT!!! NOPE.
I got dizzy just thinking about it and ended up cutting the visit short.
This was a while back (over a year).
Now I should have mentioned my one phobia is doctors and dentists.
Thinking about this again.
What procedure did you get done and how fun was it?
Anyone try the "needless/scalpel-less procedure"?

If the marriage was based on his sex drive, it's not much of a marriage.

Had the procedure done in 84 with no issues. I recommend using a bag of frozen peas to help reduce the swelling and pain after the freezing goes out.
No problems afterwords either.

I had it done 20 years ago. No problems. Frozen peas are your friend.
Same as previous...listen to your Doctor and one of the most memorable thing he said to me was.."just remember your tanks are still full of active sperm. You are not instantly sterile. Depending on your birth control method remember, you still have a couple or more of fertile batches in there so act accordingly!!"

Had it done 4 years ago. Took maybe 15 min tops
3 days of discomfort mostly felt like pressure. Wife rented me a pile of war and comedy videos. She took real good care of me. No issues after except there a little more tender. What I could walk off if smacked before I would need to take 5 and chill. No drop in sex drive.
Its alot more could go wrong for the women who get there tubes tied.

For sure everyone is very different.
Had mine done in a walk in clinic on Ross street in Reddeer on a referral from my Doc.
Gave me a quick shot for pain, froze the boys, branded me, cut me and I was back on my feet bawling for momma in no time... LOL..
Seriously the shot, and freezing all good, could feel abit but no pain. Was out in less than half an hour, and actually at work the next day.
Bag of peas is a good idea for sure, maybe a bit of swelling, but not bad for me.
I have like many others have heard many HORROR stories, cant imagine.
Hope all goes well, getter done... easier on the male than the wife for sure.

Actually, they kind of scrape through, minimizes the possibility of regrowth, which could be embarrassing.

When I went in a few years back I was totally mortified about the whole procedure. The Dr had been our family DR for a couple generations of our family so we knew each other a bit.As I am laying there trying to figure out who in there right mind allows willful damage to something that you have spent your whole life protecting, the Dr walked over and started to feel my neck and throat.Kinda startled I asked him what the heck he was doing, his reply was that this is the area that he usually found the subjects as they were sucked up as high as possible.Well,I started to laugh and couldn't quit,he then announced that I also was a better man than my father...I lost it right then and there, after laughing so hard that I was gasping for air,he said,"quit laughing cause when ya laugh it's like trying to catch to farm cats in a plastic garbage barrel".I can assure you it took longer to quit jiggling and laughing than it did for the procedure to be completed.

Bravest guy I know is a friend in Calgary. Got his Vasectomy done years ago by Dr Hanslip.

When I asked our old Scottish family doctor what was involved in getting a vasectomy, he told me 'Well laddie, you get two bricks .... and then clapped his hands together'. It took me another year to get up the courage to go back.
And when I did, it was relatively painless. I did however, grow a bushy tail and stayed close to home afterwards ....

You should really explain to your wife , that the best deal for her , is to learn on how to enjoy OS, instead of snip snip stuff for you..
Then both of you are safe and on the same page.

Had mine done a couple years ago. Was a same day consult and procedure and was in and out in 25 minutes - my wife actually thought I'd gotten cold feet and backed out... Lol. Took it easy that day on the couch with some ice, but was fine after that. Was still tender, but not painful after the first day.
