Disgust - Selling out for Photo/Marketing Opportunity
Now that the photo opportunity has passed and an article written, the reports are coming in from provincial offices that the great sell off of Alberta’s public land has begun. The potential sell off of Forest Land use zones and provincial grazing reserves being ****ed away to big business and friends, as so called “wasteland” to make way for potato farms, and toilet paper production. What a great idea to associate with the face that has begun what will probably be the greatest sellout to Alberta outdoors enthusiasts. Corruption and corporate greed in my opinion are the mainstay for the foreseeable future in this province. This bunch does not have the outdoors enthusiasts best interest in mind.
This is what you asked to borrow my boat for?

Sadly yes...
Shortly after the provincial election a request was broadcast across the province for the use of a boat to host some secret dignitaries for a fishing trip. Had I known that the intention was to host a group of politicians that support selling off our public lands I would not have been so quick to offer assistance. I would compare this photo op to shaking hands with the devil and condoning the public land sell off that is in my opinion beginning as we speak.

While your photo's make me giggle, its all coming back to me now, there is a certain demographic that is persisting here on this thread that really are not hunting/fishing enthusiasts. True hunters/Fisherman would be concerned about public land sell off.

Lol, hopefully you jest.
But if not, a lot of new to fishing people hold a spinning reel like a spin cast.

Well I can’t support any premier that wants to sell Alberta’s crown land. He’s a dude from Ontario that went to University in San Fransisco, did not graduate and then began work with the Saskatchewan Liberal Party. this clown has done nothing in his career that has impressed me and my feelings of disdain for him will grow more if he takes the easy route to fix the deficit by selling off an Alberta asset like our crown land in the Peace Country.

Duckbrat when his said 'Dignataries" were you thinking the president of the WWF or the Queen of England....
Jesus, what a petty and pathetic thing to get upset about. Love to see the guys out fishing, love to see them trying to get Alberta working again. Those potato farms will employ people.
If your going to be all childish over something like that, I suggest you dont offer up any thing next time.
Just for clarity sake.. That isn't your boat is it?

Oh.. SO the farmers up there are not allowed to grow in size? What about the kids up there? Can they never own a farm as well?
Jesus, make this land work. The Deer/Elk/Moose/Bears will thank you for it.

Ya I agree. The world population is growing. It can’t remain crown land forever.

Exactly, with the future of the oil patch a bit uncertain, agriculture has huge potential for those willing...

Every product our Canadian farmers produce are dealing with massive trade restrictions currently. Why do farmers need more land these days when we have never had the amount of trade restrictions on agricultural products that we do now?
Good luck explaining that one..

Personally, I think it's a horrible idea. Lived around Elk Point, and there is hardly any Crown. And lived around Edmonton and you need to drive 2 hours just about to get to anywhere that you can hunt or shoot. Or camp, or quad.
Shouldn't have to go to Jasper or Banff to see wildlife. Would be more tolerable if it was broken up. This keeps up there will be no public land, the tiny pockets will be overstressed, and there will be full fledged war with land owners and recreational users. Or hunting will disappear, or maybe just be "paid access". As it is, it's not accessible for many.

Thats today.. What about tomorrow. More land perhaps equals out to a lower cost point for the products. Therefore cheaper for the consumer. So you are in favour of supply chain management? Because by not opening the land up, thats basically what you are doing.
