Memories of my Dad on New Years Eve late 60's early 70's

Putting together a playlist for tomorrow night and got to thinking about what a character my Pop was on New Years Eve back in the day. Huge house party every year in my parents basement in Winnipeg-usually 50-60 in attendance. My mom was very very social and had a huge circle of friends. My dad was a total introvert and tolerated these parties only because he loved my Mom.He was hosting the bar at these events and probably had 2 drinks for himself for every one he served. Usually around midnight he would bust out of his shell and start improvising voices and making up his own lyrics to songs.

One of his favorites was Mack the Knife, but he would use a Austrian Accent and sing

And everyone was in tears laughing.

Next morning we would head out to Pinawa for some ice fishing with all his crazy Polish work buddies-Usually quite a late start and a very quiet ride

Yeah. This is what happens when you start drinking a day early.
New Years Eve-ish is always a time of reflection for the family and friends that have passed.
