Hunting in WMU 138
Morning All,
Have any of you done rifle hunting in WMU 138?
I've been wanting to try out a new WMU for a while now, and this one is pretty close to where I live now, how is the zone for white tail and/or mule deer and what is it like to get permission down there?
Is there a lot of crown land or is it all privately owned?
Any good spots or anything that any of you could recommend to a young hunter?
Thanks,

It is a big zone and most is useless. There are Muledeer but you can't hunt them unless you have a tag. Only takes 8 years for a buck and 3-4 for a doe. There is not many wt's in the zone either. I would recommend looking in a different zone. As for you crappy comment to the last reply. Maybe you should get off your butt and do your own homework and quit being lazy. I don't know how anybody managed before the internet as for all the dumb questions and people asking for free info all the time on here.

If you are going to burn a p8 on a mule in 138 you better do some home work, I would do some scouting in January or February when the deer are bunched up in the fields. I know some serious hunters that wait for tags in that zone because the big ones do live there.

He wasn't. Feel free to burn some rubber and make some friends there. Or were you hoping for X marks the spot, all the big bucks are here?

Big bucks, few tags, outfitters and landowners are the majority of the hunters. Prob in the top 5 wmus for big mule bucks in the province. I loved bowhunting there, now all I do is shoot coyotes and look at the big bucks through my riflescope Dreaming... Pretending... Of days when hunting in alberta wasn't so ****ed up...

^^^^That sums it up really well. I enjoyed bowhunting there when you could, took my best archery bucks there. Now that its a CWD zone it really will go to hell if they find anything there.

Try it out.
Great Mule Deer, lots of whitetails when you learn how and where to find them.
County maps will show you who owns what.
Go bird, coyote or WT hunting and learn the area/ develop access contacts.
