Default Lever Gun shortage?

Maby someone has posted about this before, but I haven't seen a post scrolling back a few pages here.
Does anyone know why there's a shortage of lever guns at almost every gunshop I've looked at in the central alberta region? Aside from Marlin being bought by Ruger, you would still think Henry,Winchester and Browning levers would be on shelves. Or did everyone suddenly take an interest in lever guns since the great virus of 2020?

Lots of reasons. Besides marlin changing hands / production slow downs. The election in the states caused a massive gun buying surge down south. Many feared a AR gun ban so they jumped on the next best thing... the good old lever...seems like the 30-30 has had a huge surge in demand stateside which causes problems here as well. it's een kind of a perfect storm for why levers are hard to find....ammo for levers as well..

Prices on some models have gone way up too.... the economy Rossi 92 that I bought 5 or 6 years ago for $550 is now over $1000.

Default Oic

With the Liberals OIC banning semi's, I hear a lot of "3 gun" guys are picking up lever actions to take their place.

From Henry: The 2022 production run of most rifle models will commence in February 2022. We expect models will appear in Canada in late summer.

From Ruger: They have started production of Marlin levers. Unfortunately, only one model has begun. A 45-70 model. (I don’t know about anyone else, but I wouldn’t try a Ruglin lever until after the first run of rifles have been guinea pigged.

From Winchester: The model 1894 and 1873 in the pistol calibers will have preliminary shipment dates to Canada by May 2022 at the earliest.

In other words…be patient!

Unless you find a gem like I did two weeks ago…

I agree probably Yellowstone…. Even with Biden and the dems controlling everything there hasn’t been a huge shortage of ARs like in the Obama era. Always plenty of them in every shop. Levers are just cool! Granted most people want to shoot something 2 miles away on the run…

And me to attached to one of the last 336’s that marlin made to sell it.

They are on shelves, but the selection is poor. This probably because the manufacturers are concentrating on certain models to keep up with demand.

Same boat. 2007 made 336. Paid 530$ just cant bring myself to sell it. Had a 2012 336y I sold for some silly reason....really regret letting it go....have a 70s 39A that I'll never sell and a 2020 1895 dark that I had to sell my 2016 1895 std to buy..... adding more levers is always fun. But current prices just seem to be too rich for my blood

Current prices are getting stupid. In 2015 I bought a 2000 vintage 1895G including some ammo and a nice leather scabbard for $400. Last January I bought a beautiful 1975 336T (straight grip) 30-30 to match it's big brother 45-70 for $700 all in. Both are looking really smart right now.
