Default Tikka or Ithaca

i purchased a used rifle in 270 win thinking it was a Tikka but the only thing stamped is [ Oy tikkakoski Ab made in finland]. LSA 65 650 37296. The magazine release is inside at the front of the trigger guard. it does not really matter to me but I was curious as to the difference. any help would be appreciated. THANKS

The LSA 55 and LSA 65 were built by Tikka. I had an LSA 55 that was labelled Ithaca, and it was an excellent rifle.

SAome were distributed in the US thru Ithaca, I can remember Tikka's being sold here, in Calgary, under the Tikka label as far back as in the late 70's and 80's. I don't remember if they were model 55 or 65's, but, if they were a long action, such as the 30-06 or 7 Rem Mag they were model 65's. the proper designation was an LSA55 or 65. No different a deal than Valmet had with Savage and shotguns back then. Both companies ended up under the Sako group and eventually the Beretta group later on.

You got yourself a woodpecker either way. Very good rifles.

I had at one time 7 of these rifles, 17, 22-250, 243, 270, 7mm, 3006, and 300 mag, excellent accuracy, very easy to make reloads, even with the 22 inch barrels velocity was at the top. Using different weight Partitions would put them within 1 to 2 inches directly above or below each other at 100 yards Stupid me I sold them. The 270 and the 7mm mag were my favorites.
