I’m glad that you guys enjoyed the video. I have so much fun hunting those little buggers. The second one I shot in the video was a total fluke. I almost walked right past it. It must have been my sixth sense. Something stopped me, noise or something. But I just felt that I needed to stop, and sure enough, when I looked over, there was a Grouse. And the rest is history

Went out yesterday with our friends 11 years old son who was begging me to take him hunting. Walked the woods for an hour and half and seen nothing, not even a squirrel! Drove around and finally I spotted one hiding unde4 the log. Took a shot- missed! Few more steps, another shot - missed again! Started to chase it into the woods and finally had a clear shot. Got the bugger! Kid went to retrieve the bird, was happy like a clam! I sent him home with a nice breast to be cooked by mom.
Called me today asking when are we going again, lol!
That is all what we saw yesterday, saw one got one.

That’s really cool that you’re helping get a new hunter started. Also a good thing we can hunt Grouse until the 15th of January in most if not all of Alberta!

I’m hoping to be able to get out and do a few more videos. Might have to do a little predator hunting this year, and hopefully some shed hunts too! Should be able to get out once or twice more for Grouse before the season is over though.

Anybody seeing any birds in the late season? I haven’t been out yet, been too busy working.

Went out again last Monday. Seen 7 got 5. The first two we have seen are definetly were well educated! They took off as soon as we slowed down the vehicle.
Almost at the end of the day, we saw 3 sitting up on the trees right along the road. Were able to get two of them. Had a great day outdoors!

I’ve been close enough to them on occasion where I could have, but no!! I used a shotgun in this situation!

I agree, very nice looking dog. I bet it helps to locate the birds when you have a dog too!

Thanks, guys. He is a good-looking dog, and works great on birds. Especially useful when the Grouse are still feeding in areas with no snow as they have been in the foothills lately, but of course he covers a lot more ground and can smell them from well over a hundred yards away with any kind of breeze. He's had to increase his pointing distance a bit over the course of the season, as birds in some areas have become a bit more jumpy; but he has adjusted well.
