Default Getting rid of wasps

Similar question to the ant thread.
How do you get rid of wasps? Particularly, a nest under the concrete front steps.

I used to use pyro dust, but I can't find anyplace that sells it anymore.
Anybody know a place in Edmonton that will sell some of that white dust exterminators use?

Home hardware used to sell a expanding foam type bug killer. Wait till night fall when they aren't real active then spray the can in the opening. It will expand and they have to get through it in the morning to get out

Use the search function to find other threads on this subject. Plenty of ideas from shop vacs to gassing them with car exhaust. Good luck. They can be a real problem.

Shop vac works really well, used it a dozen or so times to rid nests in concrete or walls and what not. It empties the nest in a hurry, then hit it with foam and seal.

We seem to get wasps every year.

When they were under the concrete steps, a shovel full of dirt to plug the hole did the job.

If you can see the opening in the nest, get a can of WD40 with the little extension tube and spray the WD40 inside of the hole.
It will spray 5 or 6 feet and I usually give it a good 30 to 45 second spray.
Any that are left alive will leave after a day or so and it kills any that it contacts quickly.

Or get a wasp trap from Home depot, CT, or most of the garden centres. Pour in one beer which lasts most of the spring, summer and fall and no wasps, hornets, flies to bother you. Been using this for years and beer works best I have found. Wasps are attracted to the beer and then drown in it. It gets rid of them if you set it up early enough in the spring, before they become a problem, i.e. before they get a nest inhabited.

Had a big nest under my driveway, tried a couple different wasp killer sprays with no success, gave them a big whack of "Quick Start" and a match. Fair sized boom and a sizzle as the nest burned. Go easy with that stuff if you decide to try it and make sure there's nowhere for the fire to spread.

That would do it
