This out on the DOB this morning.

On Friday, there were 90 active rigs (defined as rigs that are drilling, rigging up or moving), up from 84 active rigs on Thursday afternoon, as reported by Rig Locator. There were 664 rigs down on Friday, for an overall activity rate of 12 per cent.
For the same week a year ago, activity levels were at 20 per cent.

I think part of the rise for this week is standard post break up activity.

No, actually a mechanical engineer, but work-wise, we supply construction materials.

Looking back, I sometimes kinda wish I went the civil or petroleum engineering route (until times like this when the patch gets decimated). Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Chins up, and be optimistic!

Guys, lets examin the facts. Western Select the Alberta bench mark heavy crude blend is up 75% in last 2 months. A WTI of $60 US is $75 Canadian.
If a company cannot make money with $75 a barrel oil it should pack up and go home as their input costa are way down probably 20% as result of service companies reducing rates. Talisman were delaying well on our trapline until 2016 now going ahead this fall. So is glass half full or half empty!

Talked to the owner of one company in Lloydminster yesterday. At peak he said he had 70 employees. Down to 20 and looks like there may be more layoffs soon.

If they're not making it from crude, they sure are from selling gasoline and diesel!!! Have to maintain that profit margin, public be darned!

And never mind with the smoke and mirror reasons it so high... Anyone who'd believe that would vote PC, similar credibility.
