I was out riding this past weekend and had to clean the muskeg off my machine a couple times, burnt some skin off my hand, but it's better than a forest fire. Fire hazard awareness should be mandatory for any off road operating. I came across a smoldering pile of muskeg a couple years ago, would have burnt up my favorite riding area if I never happened by.

The year of the Slave Lake fire I was driving near calling lake and saw a guys quad start the dry grass on fire in the ditch of the highway. Another vehicle stopped for the fire and I got the guy to stop on his quad. He didn't believe that a quad could start a fire even though you could smell the smoldering muskeg on his quad as we talked.

I hope their insurance has to pay for the fire fighting costs and cleanup.

Does this apply to everyone that does something to cause a fire, or just ATV riders?

I understand if my campfire gets out of control I would be held liable so yeah, applies to everyone I would think.

Last I heard, a single trip with a water bomber costs between 10-15k too, adds up quick!
