Anyone ever use UBER?....its awesome

Last time I grabbed a taxi from the Airport it cost me $60 to get to Lynnwood (next to Ogden) in SE....like a 20 min cab ride with no traffic. Cost $7.50 just to open and close the door at the airport.

Not to mention that it takes an hour to grab a cab any fri/sat night

Tried that UBER ridesharing app last time I was in LA.......so convenient and cheap and quick.

This is a free market economy (communist NDP yada yada yada)....why the hell isn't UBER in Calgary besides the fact that the cabbies don't want it?

Ask the taxi commission. It might also be an issue for Uber drivers to get proper insurance considering the activity isn't mandated as being legal without having a Taxi licence. I've read that Montreal is cracking down on Uber drivers. I think the current system is a bit corrupt with the bloated bureaucracy and the big Taxi outfits eating up all the licenses and skimming off the drivers. A bunch of small owner operators would spread the wealth, though one wonders if that is just transferring who'd skimming off the top from the Taxi outfits to Uber itself. Whatever makes the drivers the best take-home is the one I'd back.

Personally never used it but my daughter and her friends do all the time! Much cheaper than a cab, and you can actually track the vehicle they are in. I think it is safer than a cab. Kids like it, they go party on a weekend and I know for sure they are not driving!

yep used it all the time when i was in oklahoma.

its $70 for a cab from the airport to the hotel i was at, $28 with uber.

you can also just go on and request a cab, no phoning and being put on hold.

only thing to watch out for is surge pricing. i had to pay 2.8x the normal rate for a ride home after a concert one night.
