Anyone have any good ideas on how to get rid of ants, my yard seems to be crawling with them and out back i have 2 huge ant hills as well, some red ants and some black.

GF had the same problem last year, ant mounds everywhere. This stuff did the trick. Took a dozen cans to get rid of them all, can per nest.

Push the nozzle deep into the nest til you feel an air pocket then fill it up til it comes out the holes. Do this in 5 or 6 areas of the same nest, usually a can per nest. Cover with a garbage bag and weight it down for a day.

They are hard to get rid of in the lawn. If you have a difficult time finding an anteater, you may try trapping and training a flicker or two....

We went the non toxic way. Diatomaceous earth. Don't buy a little 500g jug for $10 at the hardware store. Go to UFA and get a 50lb sack for $30. Sprinkle a couple of pounds out per day for a few weeks and they are gone.

Take a shovel full of anthill from one colony and swap it for a shovel full from another. The mixture is lethal. Kills two hills.

Pour gasoline on the anthill. I have no more ant problems.

Have not tried the others, but I know that a few pails of hot, soapy water really knocks them down.

We had an infestation of ants in our front flower garden. I sprayed Malathion: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/wi...l#.VWMfiKPnYdU and within a few days there were thousands of dead ants.

I also mixed borax and icing sugar and put it in a pop can and placed it in the garden to get rid of the rest that are still in the next. By putting it in a can it keeps the rain from washing it away.

No more ants for me!

Malathion. The only thing that really works.

I consider myself an expert.

the gasoline thing works for the ant hill... no need to light it, just poke a hole and pour it in. I recently tried some sort of ant trap, where you peal the tab and stick it in the ground, the ants take the liquid back to the hive and kills them. I have tried lots of ant stuff, but this really worked well, they were gone in a few days, sorry but can't remember the name of it

I've been trying the powder for the last week or so - too soon to tell. The little traps didn't seem to work last year

Professional exterminator for large infestations or hills near mature trees. Ants where a little grass kill won't hurt, can't beat gasoline. Single best ant, wasp and assorted bug killer ever designed but if you use it to close to trees it will kill them too.
