Default Natural deer lick

I have never actually seen one. What would it look like? I know of a couple of places that have small springs seeping out of the sides of the hills, would this be a likely place to find one?

they look just like a big mud hole. there all diifrent sizes. ive seen lots and the biggest clue to a mineral lick is all the animal tracks in it. if u find one its a honey hole for sure

Two of the best mineral licks I've seen were bone dry - just dry sandy-clay out-croppings, almost hoodoo formations.
