Default First Ice Trout - Mother Nature’s Amazing Colors

Scott & I went out yesterday to check the ice conditions and see if the trout were hungry. BTY day, sunny no wind, 0C, found 5-6” ice close to shore & 4" over deeper water with some flood water in spots. Had a great time with great company we did better than expected, the afternoon to sunset bite was fast & furious caught a variety of colors, they came in all different sizes with lots of stocking stuffers, all went back for our next adventure.

A few pic’s … enjoy.

D.

BTY Sunrise to start our Day.

`

Found 5-6" of Good Ice.

First Fish of the Day ...

Caught a Number of Male Brookies ... Brilliant.

Caught more Bows than Brookies perhaps 5 to 1.

Took me 5 years here in Ab for my first Brown ...

Last year Scott's Brown was a Monster, it went back, too.

Our Largest Bow, took me some time to convince it to come up for a pic.

The End of a fun Day ….

Excellent. Haven't fished there in a bit but interesting that brookies in pics 2 and 4 seem to have no black spot. Last time I fished there every single brookie had black spot.

Tks all ... last year we had larger fish, this year we caught a lot more, mainly between 2:30 pm & sunset, pleased you enjoyed the pic's.

58thecat .... Yes, all in the same lake, that was the first time in past 5 years that we caught all three species.

Cheers

D.
