Any ice reports from anyone on some of the stocked ponds west of Edmonton like Hasse or Spring or East Pit?

I was at the morinvile pond sunday and about 30ft from shore with a solid 6 inches 9f ice.

One of the last mt. lakes to have safe ice. Make sure it is safe cause you will most likely be hiking a good 500 meters plus to get to a decent fishn spot.

BE VERY CAREFUL.. Start on the smaller res. or trout ponds.

I'm not sure how thick the ice is, but one of my buddies drove by Beaver Mines Lake on Sunday and said there were about 8 people fishing in the bay by the scout camp. I might try there tomorrow myself.

Chain lakes west of nanton had 1”-5” of ice this past weekend.
North end produced one sucker on Saturday.
Went back Sunday afternoon to the south end off the boat launch and caught 2 rainbows.

Was thinking of taking the kids out for their first ice fishing trip on Friday, what end was the ice thicker North or South?

Both ends seemed to be about the same. South end is easier access off the boat ramp, 20 ft from shore is 6-12fow which seemed to produce some fish.

I wouldn’t venture to far from the shore without checking the ice as it got thinner further out.

Anyone know about PCR? Any good for ice fishing in general? Again, I'm very new to this, gonna head out tomorrow. Thinking chain lakes, but I like to have options

PCR is not safe yet, uneven ice formation and with these fluctuating temps, more uneven thaw/freeze. Some open water under the bridge and likely from boat launch and south.

If you're new to ice fishing, there is much to learn about ice and where it is thickening and thinning even during the coldest temps. E.g., if snow is melting on a hill, it can flow under the ice at shore making that area pungy,,, if there was a large weedbed that you liked in the summer, it might be rotting now causing uneven formation,, snow on ice is not always your friend and knowing to look for those certain colours/shadows.

Go with someone who knows their stuff, or wait it out a bit longer.

After getting skunked 4 out of 5 times last winter I call uncle on Pine. Lake has deteriorated quite a bit the last few yrs. I did see a few smaller trout swim by one of my ice holes last winter but other than that nothing on the sonar or tv screen.

pigeon lake at Grandview the ice was 8 to 11 inches a few walleye were landed
at sandholm beach on pigeon lake the ice was 3 to 8 inches be careful the ice thickness really Varys .

Chain lakes was 4-7" today. A few bites but nothing landed. Got windy as hell

Holy shmoly, anybody look at the daytime temps for the next 14 days, plus wind.. nice days but be so nice if the daytime were sub without snow. Southern Alberta, haven't checked out central or north

Yep we're real warm in Central the next week at least. Not good for Glennifer, Sylvan, etc....
