Default marco island

Hello All,

We are heading down to SW FLorida this winter and will spend some time on Marco Island. Curious if anyone on here has done any fly fishing on the island or nearby? Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. Would love to find some do it yourself tips for the area.

thanks in Advance

Thumbs up Marco island

Fished the area in 2011 with a friend from Naples.... mostly fished some cuts and mangroves with clousers for snook and up some back channels for tarpon on poppers.... it was a blast... take an 8 wt along with a floating saltwater line and you should be good. Chartreuse and white for the clousers and it did not seem to matter for the baby tarpon in the back waters. Have fun

Black Death tarpon fly. Never goes wrong. Also works great for small lemon sharks

Just an observation... I fished Florida's other coast in October near Jacksonville. There are some Tarpon around but a lot more Redfish and Sea Trout. Stopped at a local flyshop before heading out and the guy said to use Clousers. Chartreuse over White and White over White should be all you need. Caught a handful on the all white ones.
