Sight Pin Horizontal Adjustment or poor form?
Hey, so I am working on setting up my sight pins. I have been shooting good at 20yds for awhile now. Decent groups and close to center. Finally getting some time to set up 30 & 40yd pins but I seem to be consistently hitting left a couple of inches. Vertical adjustments are good. If I am holding the bow plumb I figured all the horizontal adjustment should be the same. Might have been a bit of fatigue Or technique? Or is it common (or possible) to tweak horizontal on each individual pin? Thanks!

It could be a number of things. What kind of sight do you have? You might have a third axis adjustment. Could be you're torquing your bow, or maybe your rest may need adjusting.
Shoot at 20, 30, and 40 using your 20yd pin only. If your arrows go in a vertical line up and down then it's your 3rd axis that needs adjusting. If they go slightly diagonal then you may be torquing your bow or your rest may need to be adjusted.
Usually having an open or loose grip will help with torque.
Could be cam lean too.

Your pins might not be parallel to your string, your sight axis is likely off or the sight bar is not flush to the bow. Especially if you are using different pins at further distances...and the further you go the further out it is. It could also be fletching contact to your rest.
Like was stated, what is your setup?

If you walk back tune all of your problems will likely be solved, imo.

Hang a string down the target face.
Shoot at 5 yards, adjust sight horizontally until you split the string with an arrow.
Go back to 20 yards and shoot at string. Adjust your rest towards string untill you are hitting it at 20.
Go back up to 5 yards, shoot at string and readjust sight.
Now go to 30 yards, shoot, adjust rest.
Back to 5 yards. Adjust sight
Out to 40 yards adjust rest.
Really need a micro adjust on sight and rest if you are going to get this accurate tho.

Set up is:
Bowtech Assassin
RAK 4 pin sight (I don't believe it has any individual horizontal adjustment other than holding it in place and tightening it down tilted a bit?)
Ripcord drop away rest
It didn't seem to get worse as I moved away from the target.

If you did the walk back and it didn't require adjustment then it is your form. Try and think of what you did during the walk back tune, when you had no appreciable left or right, versus what you did when you are getting left hit results. The difference will be the cause. It could be anything from footing to follow through.

Try to maintain hold on target till you hear the arrow impact...it’s very common to “peek” at your shot before it’s completed and it can cause what you are having happen.

I would first would confirm center shot at approx 13/16 from the riser. You can also run a second arrow against the riser and make sure it runs parallel to the nocked arrow. Or nock an arrow and look down from the limb bolt and make sure your arrow is running center of your stab.
I would confirm your sight level is true. Use a 4’ level or a door jamb you know to be level and place both limb pockets on the level vertically. Make sure you sight level is the same as the level bubble.
Then walk back tune. A little goes a long way with horizontal adjustments. LC brings up an excellent point on peeking and the importance of proper follow thru. Confidence is easy at 20 yards but at extended distances we get nervous and want to see if the arrow hit.
