The Flames announced today that they have acquired a conditional first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, a conditional third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and defenceman Daniil Miromanov from Vegas in exchange for Noah Hanifin in a three-way deal involving Philadelphia. Calgary will retain fifty percent of Noah Hanifin’s salary.

Condition – In the event Vegas possesses their own first (1st) round choice in the 2025 NHL Draft on March 10, 2024 AND in the event Vegas’ 2025 first (1st) round choice is NOT a top-10 pick (i.e. – picks 11 – 32 inclusive) in the 2025 NHL Draft (after the 2025 NHL draft lottery results), Vegas shall convey their own 2025 first (1st) round choice to Calgary. In the event Vegas does not possess their own first (1st) round choice in the 2025 NHL Draft due to the above noted condition(s), Vegas shall convey their own 2026 first (1st) round choice to Calgary.
Condition – In the event Vegas advances to the second (2nd) round of the 2024 NHL playoffs, Vegas shall convey their second (2nd) round choice in the 2025 NHL Draft in lieu of 2024 third (3rd) round choice.

Well those last two games looked like a AA team playing a AAA teams and Colorado and Vegas next two games so isn't going to get any easier.

I'd say it was a bit more spread than that. I'm okay with it though, I'd welcome a top 10 pick.

He would have been a good add. But with his no-trade list, it was Florida. Has a house there, is buddy with Bobrovsky.

The flames have had some bad luck this year, first Dube and now Ronni

Chasing down the win pile for the best draft pick we can get.

Someone hopefully consulted with the oilers. They are league experts at low draft picks.

I found myself in very unfamiliar territory last night in that I actually gave a bit of a wahoo when Calgary did the Oilers a favor and beat LA

Alright, top 8! LA was a bit of a setback, but if Ottawa and Montreal keep going at their 10 game pace, and we do too, top 6 is possible! If the boys step up and get it done, that would give us a 15.2% chance at a top 2 pick.

Don't think we can catch Arizona....

It seemed like the Flames did everything they could to lose.

Their heads just didn’t seem in the game fully.

Or we take solace in trying to get one top 10 draft pick versus what 8/10 for the oilers in the last 10 years?

The team has been decimated with trades. Lots of youngsters. The dynamics in flux.

However…. Looks like they are playing with heart… but the condolence prize is a better draft pick. Oilers fans had many years of tanking to master the strategic thinking strategy?

Oilers have had 5 top 10 picks in the last 10 years. I was sure you would known that as a die hard Oilers fan... a die hard fan as long as they are not playing the Flames.

Flames are 8th last. Just need to beat Montreal and Ottawa and we are 6th!

You are correct. Last few years of Oiler picks were not so good. Actually a number of past picks weren’t so good either.

A better thought would be Oilers have had 11 top 10 picks in the last 15 years including 4 first picks. Crazy.

2009 Paajarvi picked 10
2010 Taylor Hall picked 1
2011 Ryan Nugent-Hopkins picked 1
2012 Yakupov picked 1
2013. Danrnell nurse picked 7th
2014 draisaitl picked 3
2015 McDavid picked 1
2016 Puljujarvi picked 4

2017 Yamamoto picked 22

2018 Bouchard picked 10
2019 Bromberg picked 8

2020 Holloway picked 14
2021 Bourgsult picked 22
2022 Schaefer picked 32
2023 no first rounder

I am a home town guy who roots for the home town team....Go Flames Go

However after watching that track meet with Edmonton and Colorado last night, the Flames better sight in their sticks, tighten their skates and helmets for tonight's game.....

That had to be one of the fastest games played this season in my opinion; by any NHL teams...

The flames played good last night, if they had played every game with that same intensity this year the fans would be picking up playoff tickets instead of booking tee times.

Agreed. They kept our back up goalie hopping last night.

They played very well. High paced and hit many posts and crossbars. They tested the oilers D and found it dysfunctional at times. Flames are younger and less experienced now and I suspect that the Oilers playoff dance partners will have learned a lot on how to beat them from this game.

Sadly Montreal and Ottawa also lost last night lol.

Probably a good move, would have likely lost if your "starter" was in.

You’re probably right. I think skinner needs work on positioning.

So are the Flames going to draft Iginla? He’s ranked 10th.

If they get a top five pick, I'm hoping we can get someone better than Iginla.

If they pick 8-12, and the reports are basically a wash on what you're getting, pick him, it's no brainer.

Top 10 today from the guy are order from 1 to 10

Celebrini C
Demidov LW
Parekh D
Buium D
Levshunov D
Dickinson D
Helenius C
Eiserman LW
Lindstrom C
Inginla LW

Right now we have at least 8th but a chance to move up to 6 if Ottawa and Montreal go on a win streak.

Also we have a 6% chance of a first pick in the lottery.

Should mean I’ll watch the lottery this year.
